Dr. DeMarcus Pegues serves as a strategic thought partner and trusted advisor to mid- and senior-level leaders across the technology, higher education, government, consumer products and retail, not-for-profit, pharmaceutical, and financial services industries.

For over a decade, he has had the distinct privilege of supporting leaders at reputable organizations such as AbbVie, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Bayer, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Cisco, Columbia University in the City of New York, Danone, Discovery Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Google, KPMG, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Nike, Tiffany & Co., the United Nations, the US Department of Labor, and Verizon.

DeMarcus thrives when working with individuals across global and diverse environments, from newly promoted leaders to C-suite executives, all navigating significant transition and change in our ever-evolving world. He takes a collaborative and systemic approach to his work that is underpinned by the core value of client empowerment through joint diagnosis and problem-solving, with a particularly keen focus on coaching the whole person. In subscribing to this holistic approach, he believes that we must sometimes interrogate those formative beliefs and stories that were acquired in our past – particularly our childhood – and determine whether they still serve us today (or not). Therefore, DeMarcus aims to bring awareness to these "scripts" and beliefs so that leaders may lead from a more authentic, expansive, and empowered stance moving forward.

Additionally, with a genuine passion for teaching and “paying it forward,” DeMarcus devotes significant time supporting and nurturing the next generation of leadership and team coaches through his service as an Adjunct Professor in the Social-Organizational Psychology Program at Columbia University in the City of New York. He is also deeply committed to efforts geared towards diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and has had the privilege of (co-)authoring several publications towards that end, including: “Diversity in Leadership: Where’s the Love for RacioethnicMinorities?” (Business Journal of Hispanic Research), and “The Role of ‘Who’ in Social Capital Formation: Linking Who You Are and Who You Know” (Nova Science Publishers).

DeMarcus graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, andreceived his doctorate in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in the City of New York. His doctoral research explored the personal and environmental conditions that promote workplace incivility among minority professionals.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee (Go Vols!), DeMarcus now resides in the suburbs of Atlanta where sweet tea, park walks, and the express lane make life a little easier.
